What Canon printers/cartridges will this help with?

These contacts can be pointed in some printers so take care not to leave behind pieces of tissue when cleaning. Thankfully these contacts can be easily accessed by removing the cartridge from the printer and can also be cleaned using the same kind of tissue. If you have experienced this issue with multiple cartridges it may be that the corresponding contacts inside the printer have become obscured or even damaged. Sadly in this instance the only option that remains is to replace the cartridge, preferably one produced by another party or from another batch. if however one of the E04, E05, E14 or E15 “The FINE Cartridge cannot be recognized” messages remain it is likely that the cartridge is damaged/defective. With any luck the cartridge will now be recognised by your printer and you will be able to carry on printing.

Your Canon printer uses a series of golden colour contacts on the front of the cartridge as the only point of contact with the cartridge.
